Trendy Trees

These are some of my most favourite cards ever! The first (Chocolate Chip base) I have CASED straight from Kirsty Brown (how surprising???) - the only change I think I have made is to use Baja Breeze cardstock instead of the Bashful Blue I think (??) Kirsty has used, but other then that...I love this card though, for its simplicity of design, but still so striking. I have stamped the trees on the inside and the trunks (only on the insde) I have just eyeballed - I certainly used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the trunks on the cards main image...

So while I had this card layout in mind I made up another batch of cards using a colour combo that I have fallen IN LOVE with - Baja Breeze and Barely Banana along with some Haiku DSP. I LOVE this DSP - it is one of my absolute favourites, and whilst the yellow in the DSP is meant to be So Saffron (I think) I really like the softer yellow of the Barely Banana.

I amended the measurements to the A2 box you've seen on this blog a number of times to accomodate matching envelopes and made a card to go with this gift set to give away to a very special friend!!!

Thanks for stopping by, and tell me what you think???

Stationary Book

Well hello hello!!! It feels like a while since I've been able to post anything, but I hope you've been enjoying all Lisa's awesome projects!!!

My husbands good work friend was celebrating her 30th birthday today so I spent some time making this Stationary Book with matching 8 cards. I found the idea on here - you can actually buy a tutorial for it but I just had a look at it and thought I could work it out for myself. Its not too difficult and I actually really enjoyed how it turned out! I did have a little difficulty working out the boxes to go inside and have only just realised mine are quite different to the one's on Linda's sight, but that's all good right?? I also didn't make it big enough to take the matching 8 envelopes but ended up putting the envelopes into their own envelope of DSP paper and giving it as part of the gift? I wasn't about to make a whole new box just to fit the envelopes - next time I might just buy the tutorial!!!! hehehehhe

I have also tried out a technique I've seen on a few blogs to create that curly scalloped border around my central circle??? I couldn't tell you who to give credit to for it (if you know please let me know and I'll do a link!!) but its made by punching a strip of CS with your Eyelet Border Punch and then putting that through a crimper. I then put little snips into the base side of the strip and then just starting folding the little sections over each other to gather it into a circular shape. Then I've used mini glue dots to adhere my circle on top and popped it up on dimensionals. They look really simple but pretty too - why don't you have a go...:)

(I found out where I first saw this idea - Sarah Klass - go along and have a look a look at all her amazing things!!!)

Thanks for dropping by,

Adele xxx

For Everything

I really like this card because it's bright and I don't usually go for the bright colours!
Lisa xx

Treat Cup Flowers

When I first saw the Sweet Treat Cups I couldn't wait to get some and try them out. This is the first thing I did with them because they look so cute and are soooo easy to do. Take a Sweet Treat Cup and poke a skewer in it (I put a hole in the cup with my Paper Piercer first so the skewer goes in easier). The pointy end of the skewer should rest on the inner top part of the cup (without going through it). Just fill the cup with mini m&m's, jelly beans, or a favourite treat. Punch a 1 3/4" circle of cardstock in your chosen colour... I used a variety of colours (It's a good way of using up smaller scrap pieces of card). Peel the adhesive backing off the Sweet Treat Cup and stick the circle on top (it only just fits). You'll still have a rim of adhesive to stick 8 x 1" Circles around to make the flower petals. Now use glue or tape to stick another 1 3/4" circle over the top, to make the back look neater. Then I just tied some ribbon around the skewers to finish them off. Happy creating...Lisa xx.

Satchel Note Box

So I won't lie to you...this project is not a quick one...it is a little more involved. I like easy too but I kind of like involved as well and don't mind spending a bit of time on things, especially when they turn out this cute! I love the satchel look which is actually easier to achieve than it looks. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the wonderful women out there who work all the measurements out and then post tutorials for others to follow...you make my life so easy and allow me to create gorgeous things without the math headaches!! So for those of you have my inclination to not reinvent the wheel but go with an already tremendous design and just pretty it up differently....then here is the tutorial from Andrea Walford to follow - Yay!! Lisa xx.

CS: So Saffron, Whisper White
DSP: Sweet Slumber, Parisian Breeze
Stamps: Great Friend
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Riding Hood Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Rhinestone Brads, Scallop Edge Punch, Hemp Twine, 1/2 inch Circle Punch, 1/16 inch Circle Punch.

Gift Bag

I do love a nifty Gift Bag and now I can make them myself. Plus they are way cuter than the ones in the shops and cheaper!! Again there is a great tutorial by Makeesha Byl that shows you how to make one of these and the measurements can be altered to make the bags bigger or smaller. You may have noticed that Adele and I love making paper flowers and I catch myself putting them on everything now. This flower is so easy...just punch out different coloured rounds using the Scallop Circle punch, basically scrunch them all up and then layer them on top of each other and fasten with a brad or some glue and a button like I have.
Now I didn't have any jumbo eyelets to attach to my bag for the ribbon to go through, so I used some Whisper White Jumbo Grommets instead. I like the look although you do have to tie your ribbon differently so it doesn't come through the larger hole of the grommets.
Anyway i had loads of fun making this gift bag and I will be making many more...Lisa xx

CS: Riding Hood Red Crimped, Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Whisper White
DSP: Sweet Slumber Specialty, Riding Hood Red and So Saffron Patterns DSP for the flower
Stamps: On Your Birthday
Ink: Baja Breeze
Accessories: Baja Breeze Corduroy Button, White Jumbo Grommets, Rhinestone Brads,Baja Breeze Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Crimper.

Fifth Avenue Cards

You couldn't ask for an easier way to make a beautiful card...the "Fifth Avenue Floral" stamp set is a clean simple design that just gives instant wow factor. Here are a couple of examples of how I have used this stamp set...thanks Sarah V. for giving me inspiration from one of your cards!

CS: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Baja Breeze
Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Vintage Labels
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze
Punches: Wide Oval, Word Window

This card has been made purely with the Fifth Avenue Floral set, the wide oval punch, and a strip of ribbon...you could make a stack of these in one sitting. Lisa xx

Accessories: Taffeta Ribbon in Riding Hood Red

Boxed Card Set

Back to one of my favourite things...a boxed set of cards and envelopes. The tutorial for the box is from the Split Coast Stampers. Adele and I have made a few of these boxes and swapped a solid lid for an acetate one so you can see through to the cards stored in the box. The box is made with the white card insert inside the 12 x 12 DSP packs (we waste nothing!!) and I have used the much loved "Parisian Breeze" DSP. I have teamed this fabulous box with some cute thank you note cards and matching envelopes. I love the simplicity of using just one stamp set, in this instance 'Trendy Trees' and adding some paper punching for added detail. The colour combo of Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, and Whisper White is another favourite. I have inked in Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze too. The envelopes have been personalized by cutting a standard envelope in half and then adding co-ordinating Baja Breeze DSP to form the flap. I haven't been able to give this set away yet...I like it too much!! If you've never made a box before, then give this one a go...Lisa xx.

Happy Moments Card

I thought I should post another card so you don't think all I do is make boxes! I wanted to try the new Tea Party DSP I bought and play with some of the free stamp sets I earned through Sale-A-Bration. I think my favourite thing is being able to simply punch out the sentiment, because the stamp matches perfectly with the punch...so easy. Thanks for looking, Lisa xx

CS: Almost Amethyst, Whisper White, Pretty In Pink
DSP: Tea Party
Stamps: Happy Moments, Vintage Labels, Cheep Talk

Accessories: Curly Label Punch, Bling

A Man Card!

So at the start of this year I had lots of male birthdays and realized I would need some 'man cards'...what to do, what to do? I don't really own any 'manly' stamp sets....so decided that trees were manly! In true Lisa fashion I started searching the web for ideas and looking through my DS papers and card stock to find some 'male' designs and colours. Now I have 1 man card...I'm working on expanding my repertoire so I am ready for Father's Day! I'll get back to you on some new "Man Cards" in the near future - Lisa xx

CS: Handsome Hunter, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
DSP: Urban Oasis

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Handsome Hunter, Garden Green, Old Olive

Card Box

Yes, I know...it's another 3D object! I fill this one with cards and envelopes to make a really lovely card set, of course you could also fill it with many other gifts or treats.
Once again I have cased this project from someone else - Andrea Walford, she calls hers a Simply Scrappin' Kit Card Box. Have a look at her tutorial for how to put it together.
I have used the Sweet Slumber DS and some co-ordinating Ruby Red and So Saffron CS for the little flowers. In the middle of the flowers I have used some white eyelets to attach the flowers and also to allow ribbon to be threaded through and used to tie the box shut. This box is so quick and easy to make, so why not give it a go - Lisa xx.

Chocolate Flip Box

I saw this box on Andrea Walford's site and loved it immediately...so had to make my own. There is a fab tutorial for it which will help you make your own. When I made it I wasn't even sure what was going to fit inside it, but have since discovered that a small bag of Maltesers or a king size Kit Kat fit perfectly!! I made one of these as a door prize for our first workshop and the lucky guest who won it was very happy!!
I have used Parisian Breeze DS with co-ordinating CS - Kraft, Baja Breeze and Whisper White. The large detail heart has been inked in Baja Breeze and sentiment has been inked in Chocolate Chip. Both stamps are from the "Always" stamp set. The smaller hearts have been inked in Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip and are from the "Simply Said" stamp set. I have used another stamp from the "Always" stamp set inked in Whisper White all over the Kraft CS.
I am a big fan of making little boxes, baskets, and any type of container that can hold a small gift, card set or treat. It is just such a complete package to give someone and in these times a more affordable option that's unique, made with love and says, "I care enough about you to make this!" Happy crafting - Lisa xx.

Bag in a Box

This was one of the first things I made and still one of my favourites! There is a great and easy tutorial you can follow to make your very own. I've used some Urban Oasis DS Paper and co-ordinating CS - Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Basic Gray, and Whisper White. The attached tag is stamped in Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss and is a stamp from the "Botanical Blooms" stamp set, while the sentiment is from "A Great Friend" stamp set. I have punched out the tag and both background CS using the Scallop Square punch...so easy! The Kiwi Kiss border around the bottom has been punched using the Eyelet Border, and the handles are made using the Round Tab punch. It is all brought together with some co-ordinating Baja Breeze striped Grosgrain Ribbon. I hope you get time to try one, you can also reduce the measurements and make super cute, small ones...these bags are versatile and pretty! Thanks for dropping in and have fun...Lisa xx.
