More Paper Flowers

I had to make a quick gift for my husbands Gran this afternoon and decided what could be better, more elegant or quick than a frame!!! So out came the good old 'poofy flowers' - one of my favourites!!!! I love these flowers - so simple to do and they look just awesome (well, I think they do!).

Sorry about the bad photo's - I had to take them really quickly before rushing out the door!!!

If you're interested in having one of these frames for yourself I will be selling this size (8x10inch) for $45 each. I have 3 frames ready to ship to new homes!!! Also, I will be running a class for the smaller sized frame from this post at a later date so keep your eyes glued to this space!!!! :)

If you'd rather learn how to make these flowers for yourself and do up your own frame I am running a Paper Flower Tutorial Class this Friday night so email me RIGHT NOW and book yourself in!!! :) You can see all of the flowers we'll be making in my previous post.

Thanks for stopping by - I love you all!!!! :)

Cards by Order

So a little ago I had a request to make up some cards for a baby's christening which was fun and scary at the same time - normally I just create cards whenever the mood is upon me with no actual event in mind and they just go into my card stash, or I'm making up cards for a card class or such, but to be actually asked for a card specifically was so definitely somethine new and I really really enjoyed myself.

I started with the first card but thought it might have been just a little too dark for a baby's christening, so came up with the second card instead...

My 'client' was happy with both of them and ended up buying them both so that was great - I really enjoyed making them...thanks Terri!!!! :)

If you need a card for a special occasion just drop me or Lisa a line and we'd LOVE to help you out! Or - if you see a card here on our blog that you'd like to purchase thats great too!!! Shoot us an email or a comment and we'll get right back to you!!!

Thanks for stopping by, come again soon!!!

Gifts Again

Just thought I'd share with you a gift I made up for a lovely friend who just had a gorgeous baby boy......

Its just a shadow box frame with a big wooden letter from a craft store with various bits of DSP on the inside, covering the wooden letter and over the front portion of the frame (exactly the same process I used on a previous frame). I'm not sure the red isn't too stark a contrast with the white, but it just had to do as I'd run out of time to fiddle with it any more.

I actually really really like these little blocks - again, just a variation of one's I've made before. These one's are quite sweet - they measure 4x4cm which is a nice, little size. I painted these ones in red before glueing the DSP to the sides and fronts and again just sanded away to my hearts content. Then a little sponging with a chalky little ink spot from a craft store to age them up a little and added the letters and a few buttons and I was done. They actually worked out much better then I at first anticipated - the DSP is from Sweet Slumber Specialty Paper which is just a little thicker than normal DSP (Designer Series Paper) which made the sanding a little harder but it definitely looks really good!

I will be holding a class on these blocks if anyone's interested - I will let you know about a date and time when I figure that out! :) In the meatime I'm holding my Paper Flowers Technique Class this coming Friday if anyone is interested in coming along - there are still seats available and I would LOVE to see you there!!!

Watercolour Pencil Trial

I bought the watercolour pencils this last week and thought I would try them out....so this effort is not the best! I need to play around some more and work out the nuances of using them I think. The colours are bright and bold which is a real departure from the usual colours I use.....but it's growing on me. Once again...I have pulled out some cute birds, this time from Fun and Fast notes. What do you think??

Baby Cards

So I don't know if I've ever really made baby cards, and I guess these aren't OBVIOUSLY baby cards, but the sentiment does say (if you can't read it) 'Welcome little one' which MAKES these baby cards right??? hehehehe

I really like these colour combinations - Kraft has to be one of my all-time favourites for a natural looking palette - LOVE IT!!! I tried making my own DSP again with the blue/pink and sahara sand stars which I really like...and a finishing touch - the big stars on the main panel have been SMOTHERED in Crystal Effects - just another little detail on an otherwise simple simple card...

Thanks for stopping by. Hope your day is going BRILLIANTLY!!!

Adele is my Inspiration!!

Adele made me a beautiful card over the weekend and I LOVED it soooo much that I based a covered notebook I needed to make for my daughter's friend on her design. The card on the left is a total case of her card except that I used a bird instead of a butterfly and a different sentiment. I really love the cute little birds in the Cheep Talk stamp set and the bright, happy colours are refreshing. Thanks Adele for your wonderful creativity and for helping me get this present made!! Love you xxx.

A Good Old CASE

I love it when you find another card that just gets your creativity flowing. This was the card for me (click here) and whilst my card is no where near as gorgeous as the original, I still really like all these colours together. I would never have thought to have such a bold main panel with such a neutral background but I actually really like it.

My favourite part of this card - making the self-made DSP strip of paper with the scalloped bottom! Made using the small flower image from 'For Everything' stamped in Sahara Sand and a stamped off Baja Breeze. It looks really effective in real life - something I am definitley going to be trying more often.

Have a great day!!!!

New Cards

I got to sit down last night after the kids went to bed and finally get to making some cards. I've been wanting to all weekend but have been battling kids with gastro and haven't had the energy to pull anything out. Needless to say I've been a little cranky - but my husband came home from his meetings last night to a happy wife - I think he was a little confused as to why I was happy - I certainly wasn't before he left - he asked 'why are you so happy now? Is it because you're making cards?'. And you know what - it WAS!!! I find it so calming and therapeutic and joyful to be able to sit down and create. It doesn't matter that it might not be anyone else's cup of tea and they might be the ugliest cards ever, but the fact that I can lose myself in my own little world definitely helps to put a smile back on my face!! The investment is DEFINITELY worth it - and you know what, I think my husband now agrees too!!! hehehhe

Nothing much to explain with this card - I've used Whisper White Craft ink to soften all the edges and to stamp the Pocket Silhouette stamps onto the Baja Breeze piece. The butterfly is from Garden Whimsy and I've stamped it twice and dunked the top layer in Dazzling Diamonds - I love the added glamour of a little bling!

This looks really bright and fresh in real life - just what I needed last night!!! I LOVE STAMPING!!!! :)

Lots of Bots

So this was my first play with this super cute set from the Autumn Mini . I'm really trying to branch out and use different stamp sets to my normal ones so I thought this was a good one to try and at $23.95 for the clear mount set not too tough on the pocket either!!! :)

I've stamped the image onto watercolour paper with Black Stazon ink and then used my aquapainters to colour him in. I'm still trying to get used to using the aquapainters - too much water, not enough water, etc etc, but I had lots of fun on this particular night. And I must say watercolour paper is a must if you don't want your paper to bend or pill. My only complaint is that the watercolour paper is a little more vanilla than white white, but I can deal with that...hehehehe

Procrastinating

So blogging is fast becoming my way of ignoring the mounds of housework I SHOULD be doing! I don't feel quite so bad blogging as I do crafting when the house is a mess! hehehehe

Thought I'd share another card with you...

I don't think I really knew where I was going with this card when I was making it (and looking at it now all I can see it that HORRID knot!!! I am so sorry!!!!). Basically I just had stuff still out on the table and tried to make them work. I'm not in love with this card but I don't hate it either (except for that knot! I thought I had finally conquered the 'knot' after a good 6 months of trying - obvioulsy not yet!).

CS: Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Soft Suede, Old Olive Marker
Stamp Set: Cheep Talk, Heard From the Heart
Other: Riding Hood Red Buttons (Button Bouquet), Scallop Edge Border Punch, Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon, Paper Piercer, Kiwi Kiss DSP, Riding Hood Red DSP

Incidentally - I teach piano and one of my piano mum's was having a play with stamp stuff while I was teaching her kids and this is the card she came up with...I thought it was awesome and may just have to CASE this for a workshop!!!!

(Sorry about the bad photo - I had to grab one quick before they left!!! AWESOME job Michelle!!! :)

Eye Candy

I'm back - AGAIN!!!! Hope you're not getting too annoyed?!? :) Thought I should start posting some of the cards I made over the weekend. This first one is made using Cheep Talk (a stamping friend and I did a Stamp swap this week where she chose some stamps sets I own that she doesnt and has taken them, and I have taken stamps of hers that I don't own - so in that way we can have a little play while still saving up to purchase the stamps the we MUST have - because of course, our wishlist never gets shorter!!! hehehe. So this is one of the stamp sets that I borrowed - LOVE IT!)

I made 2 of these cards while I had stuff out - on the second card I used a sentiment from the Level 1 Hostess Set in the mini catalogue called Picture This - saying 'to a perfect pear' but instead of pear it has a picture of a pear! Very cute!!! Sorry I forgot to take a photo of that one...

CS: Soft Suede, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White
Ink: Soft Suede, Kiwi Kiss
Stamp Set: Cheep Talk
Other: Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon, Kiwi Kiss DSP Paper, Kiwi Kiss Button, Old Olive Marker, Paper Piercer, Crystal Effects

This next card I actually made as thank you notes for some ladies at my son's kindy - when we were there for pick up last week my 2nd son threw up copious amounts of sick all over the entrance pathway!!! It was disgusting and didn't seem to stop! Some of the other mothers were so lovely and offered to clean everything up (which they did) and let me just deal with cleaning up my sick child - I was so so grateful! So I wanted to give a littel thank you note to express that - it probably didn't mean much to them, they were so happy to help, but cleaning up other people's vomit calls for a lot of thank you's don't you think!!!! hehehehe (I did buy a little chocolate to go along with each of the thank you notes, but after searching for some very quiet children this morning I found them (the kids) sitting on the couch very calmly and non-sheepishly EATING the chocolate!!!! So for now I guess its just a thank you card!!!)

I love this little sheep image! Its from the stamp set in the Idea & Catalogue book called Pun Fun - and is full of gorgeous images with quirky little sayings underneath - very very cute!

CS: Riding Hood Red, Watercolour Paper, Soft Suede
Ink: Black Stazon, Riding Hood Red, Soft Suede
Other: Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon, Paper Piercer, Sponges, Eyelet Border Punch, Watercolour Pens, Creamy Caramel Marker

Thanks for coming and make sure you come back again tomorrow for some more cards!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Another Birthday Card

So you will be sick of birthday cards from me before the next little while, but here is another one that I had a go at - nothing particularly birthday-ish about it, but it does SAY 'happy birthday'!!! hhehehhe

My first time using the Scallop Circle Die in the big shot too - and I have to say I LOVE this shape...it makes quite a small card but that's great when you don't have much to say right! :)
Thanks for dropping by,

My Favourite Tree

This tree stamp is from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set and I love it a lot. I saw a similiar card on the Splitcoast Stampers showcase and thought I could make it my own! It's very simple in that it is just Chocolate Chip ink for the stamping and the sponging with a little colour added through the use of Stampin' Pastels. One of my favourite stamp sets!

More Fifth Avenue Floral

I saw this card on the demonstrator website showcase and thought it looked clean and simple. I've altered the colours slightly and added some ribbon and a sentiment to make some birthday cards.

Birthday Cards!!!

It may have been pointed out to me recently that I make a lot (A LOT) of friendship and thank you cards and not enough birthday cards!!!!(thanks so much Terri!!!:)). And I totally agree!!! So I am going to try to rectify that over the next couple of weeks and really stock up on all the 'other' kinds of cards we all need to have on hand.

So, here is a birthday card I made recently...almost a total CASE from the wonderful Amy Waters with just a few little tweaks of my own? I LOVE this fabulous design/idea - the fresh, bright Melon Mambo against the Kraft cardstock - I love this colour combo A LOT! :) I have been wanting to try this card for a VERY long time, but had to wait till I could purchase the embossing heat tool and powders. So so fun to make and not too tricky - you should give it go!!!

The flower has been inked up in Versa Mark, then sprinkled with White Embossing Powder, heated up with the Heat Tool and once its been cooled I've rubbed White Craft Ink in circular patterns to create the dimension in the middle.
So if there is anything you would like to see a little more of, just shoot me an email or a comment and I'll try to oblige!!! :)

Thanks for stopping by,

Framed flowers

Gaining inspiration from Adele's beautiful frames that she has made...I have made my first framed piece!! Basically I've copied Adele's idea and just added a twist with the half top note, some ribbon and my niece's name. My little niece turned one last week and I thought the frame would be something lovely to put in her room. My daughter made me feel good when she commented, "That's really nice, you could sell those!".....thanks Anisa!

Variations of a theme

I know it's an epic post but I had an epic weekend making these cards!! I made a whole heap of paper flowers about 3 weeks ago and finally got around to doing something with them. I really wanted to try some new colour combinations and also use the flowers so they are the 'showcase of each card. Adele has picked out her favourite ones...but I still can't decide which ones I like best. Don't forget we have a class on all types of paper flowers coming up in July, so if you like the flowers on my cards...sign up and learn how to make them!

Ok, have a look and tell me which one you like best!
